Terms & Conditions for Garden City Walks

A few things to know before we walk

We’re looking forward to walking with you! Before we set off, here are a few things to know so that everyone has a good time, including the people who make these walks possible.

1. Signing up for a walk

All walks must be booked in advance through our website. Places are limited, and your spot is confirmed once we’ve received and verified your payment.

You must be at least 18 to book a walk independently. Younger participants are welcome, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.

2. Plans change sometimes

We know plans can change, and we’ll do our best to be fair and reasonable when they do.

If you need to cancel: If you can no longer make it to a walk, please let us know by email at least 24 hours before the walk begins. While we’re unable to offer refunds, we’ll be happy to offer you the option to join another upcoming walk, subject to availability. Your rescheduled booking must be used within six months of the original walk date.

Would you like to pass your spot on to someone else? Just email us at least 24 hours before the walk begins and copy in the person taking your place, so we can make the change and know who to expect on the day.

If we need to cancel: Sometimes weather, safety concerns or other unforeseen circumstances mean we have to cancel or reschedule a walk. If that happens, we’ll let you know as soon as possible and offer you a full refund or the option to join another walk.

Please arrive at the stated meeting point on time. If you’re running late, contact us if possible, but do keep in mind that we will need to set off as scheduled.

3. Come as you are, but come prepared

Our walks involve being on your feet for a while, so please check the duration, distance and general nature of the walk before signing up. We’ll do our best to share what you can expect, but do get in touch if you have questions about whether a particular walk will work for you.

If there’s anything we should know to help you participate comfortably or safely, please tell us beforehand. You’re always welcome to skip a snack or activity if you’d prefer not to take part.

Wear comfortable footwear, carry water, apply sunscreen, and come prepared for the weather. Bangalore’s pavements, in particular, can have a character of their own!

4. Walking together

Our walks work best when everyone looks out for one another. Please follow your walk leader’s instructions, stay with the group, and be considerate of fellow walkers and the people who live, work and go about their day in the neighbourhoods we visit.

We want our walks to be welcoming and comfortable for everyone. Harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behaviour towards participants, walk leaders or anyone else will not be tolerated. If something makes you uncomfortable, please let us know at gardencitywalks@gmail.com so we can look into it.

5. Your safety and belongings

We take reasonable care in planning and leading our walks, but walking in a city comes with its share of unpredictability. Routes may include uneven pavements, traffic, steps and other everyday urban hazards. Please take care, stay aware of your surroundings, and let your walk leader know if you need help.

You’re responsible for your own belongings and for taking reasonable care of your health and safety during the walk. Garden City Walks and its walk leaders cannot be held responsible for loss, damage or injury except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

6. Photographs and memories

We love a good walk photograph, and we may occasionally take pictures to share on our website or social media. We’ll ask for your permission before using identifiable photographs of you for promotional purposes. If you’d rather not be photographed, just let us know.

You’re welcome to take photographs for personal use. Please be mindful of other participants and of the privacy of people we meet along the way. Ask before taking or sharing identifiable photographs of others.

7. Leave no trace

Our walks are about getting to know the city and the life it holds. Please respect the trees, plants, wildlife, public spaces and people we encounter. Avoid littering, carry your waste with you until you find a suitable bin, and steer clear of disturbing wildlife or damaging plants.

We’d also love you to help us keep our walks low-waste wherever possible. A reusable water bottle is always a good place to start.

8. A few last things

We may occasionally need to update these terms as Garden City Walks grows and our walks evolve. The version published on our website at the time of booking will apply to your booking, subject to applicable law.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka, to the extent permitted by law.

By booking a walk, you confirm that you’ve read and agreed to these terms.

Questions? Just write to us at gardencitywalks@gmail.com. We’re happy to help.

See you on the walk!
